BUSA & SUS CompetitionsEach season EUFC members compete in a number of University Competitions run by BUSA & SUS in addition to Open competitions and Tours. BUSA Events The BUSA Qualifiers, a team based competition, takes place at the end of October and the Scottish Universities compete against each other for places in the BUSA Championship competition. In 2007/2008, the Ladies' A Team entered the Premier League North for the first time. This means the Ladies' A have home and away matches and will be fencing every wednesday from the end of October through to February. The BUSA Individuals takes place over a three day weekend in early December. EUFC sends approximately 10 members each year to compete in all 3 weapons. The BUSA Knockouts take place during the month of February and March. The winner of Scottish Conference 1A at the BUSA Qualifiers represent Scotland in the Last 16 of the BUSA Championships. The University that is placed second in the BUSA Qualifiers competes in the Last 16 of the BUSA Shield. More information can be found at the BUSA Fencing Website. SUS Events The SUS Teams is the first Scottish University competition of the season. Taking place in November, EUFC sends a number of teams to compete in all weapons. The University with the best results wins the Best University Club Shield. The SUS Beginners is the only University competition dedicated to those fencers that have less than 2 years experience in the sport. The competition takes place in February and many of EUFC's beginners are successful at it. The SUS Individuals is the last Scottish University Competition of the season and brings the top fencers from each university together. More information can be found at the SUS Fencing Website. |
