Honorary Committee

Under the EUFC Constitution, EUFC is able to appoint an Honorary President and up to 5 Honorary Vice Presidents. Below are the members of the present Honorary Committee. Members are appointed at the club's AGM and those that sit on the Honorary Committee are members of the club that have been excellent club ambassadors. Past Honorary Committee members can be found here.

The Honorary Committee plays an advisory role in the direction in which the club committee chooses to take EUFC.

Honorary President: Professor Bert Bracewell

Bracewell

Bert Bracewell once coached at Edinburgh University Fencing Club and as we are eternally grateful for his contribution to EUFC, he is the club's Honorary President.

He also coached at Heriott Watt University Fencing Club and in his honour, the annual ‘Bracewell Challenge’ was setup where both universities compete for the Bracewell trophy.

Honorary Vice President: Mr. Alastair McMillen

Alastair is a former armourer and served as President of EUFC for two years. Alastair is still based in Edinburgh and often takes part in Dave's Alternative Triathlon.

Honorary Vice President: Mr. Richard Carter

Carter

Richard Carter was made an Honorary Vice President at the 2004/05 AGM. He stood on the committee for a total of 3 years: two as Armourer and in his final year as President. Under his Presidency the club enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in recent memory. After the end of his Presidency, Richard went on to hold the positions of Secretary and President of SASF (the student fencing body before it was taken over by SUS).

Honorary Vice President: Mr. Edward Manning

Ed

Edward Manning was made an Honorary Vice President at the 2007/2008 AGM. He has previously held the positions of Treasurer, Secretary and President of the Club in addition to his role as Vice President of Edinburgh University Sports Union. Ed oversaw the launch of the Alumni Club during his time as President in addition to the strategic planning he put in place for the coming years.

Honorary Vice President: Mr. Matthew Donnery

Matt

Matthew Donnery was made an Honorary Vice President at the 2007/2008 AGM. Matt served as Treasurer of the club in 2006/2007 and before that he held the position of Fundraising Secretary. In both his roles he revolutionised the club's approach to corporate sponsorship and looked at many ways of securing the club's long term future through different channels.
